The course is an intensive summer course designed for students aspiring to become an English teacher at an elementary school and/or a junior high school. As English language becomes an official subject at Japanese elementary schools, there will be an urgent need for good English teachers capable of handling initiation into the language. The course provides an opportunity to find ways to become a skilled English teacher to meet such demand.
The course being an intensive course, high motivation to the subject matter and a very active participation are required.
授業計画
The course is going to be an intensive summer course during the summer break. It will take place either at the very beginning or at the very end of the summer vacation. The dates will be announced at the English Department bulletin board. The course will consist of the following elements: 1.Introduction to Phonics method 2.Pronunciation Drills/ How to improve your own pronunciation 3.How to teach pronunciation/intonation 4.How to make "reading children's book" a learning experience 5. Using the Internet as a teachers' resource 6.Making lesson plans 7. Incorporating Phonics practices into a mock-class presentation * Students are asked to do much discussions and presentations during the classes. * In place of a written exam, the final exam for the course will be a mock-class presentation to show the understanding and skills acquired from the classes.
