Introduction to etymology and its practical application in language study, literature and other fields.
授業概要
In this course we shall trace the historical development of etymology from its origins in Greece through its height in historical linguistics to its decline with the advent of stucturalism. The reawakening of interest in postmodern times will be discussed.
