The aim of this course is to appreciate film and prose in depth. We will discuss topics such as the mother-daughter relationship and the cultural differences (Asia and America).
授業概要
This course is an introduction to prose and film. Amy Tan's novel, The Joy Luck Club (1989), depicts the lives of four Chinese mothers and American-born daughters who encounter and overcome various difficulties. The work is closely related to Tan's own background. We will watch the film, enjoy the novel, and discuss how the author's experience is reflected in the novel and the film.
